Problems #
You’re selling handmade chocolate cookies made from 3 key ingredients: Flour, Sugar, and Chocolate chips. The availability of your chocolate cookies for ordering directly depends on the stock levels of these ingredients.
However, on Shopify, you must specify a quantity for the Chocolate Cookies product available for ordering. There is no link between your inventories of Flour, Sugar, and Chocolate chips with the Chocolate Cookies.
To manage this, you might manually calculate to determine how many cookies can be made from the actual inventory of these ingredients.
But this is not an ideal solution. It would be challenging to update the remaining quantity of cookies available for sale every time there is a new order.
Solutions #
To streamline your inventory management and synchronize your ingredient stocks with your chocolate cookies availability, leverage the Easify Inventory Sync app’s Bundle Group feature.
How it works
- Automatic Calculation: The Bundle Group automatically calculates the maximum number of Chocolate Cookies that can be produced based on the current inventory levels of Flour, Sugar, and Chocolate Chips.
- Order Processing: When an order for cookies is placed, the ingredient inventories are deducted according to the quantities needed to fulfill that order.
- Inventory Updates: After deducting the ingredients used in an order, the Bundle Group updates the available Chocolate Cookies inventory based on the remaining quantities of Flour, Sugar, and Chocolate Chips.
By creating a Bundle Group for your cookies and their ingredient inventories in the Easify Inventory Sync app, you can streamline operations and reduce manual effort significantly.
How to set up
1. Start by creating the ingredient products, including Flour, Sugar, and Chocolate chips (and any additional ingredients if needed). Note that these products are intended solely for managing actual inventories and will not be sold on the storefront. Therefore, you should create them as Draft products.
2. Navigate to the app’s menu and select Bundle Groups.
3. Click on the Add new group button to create a new inventory group.
4. Add all related products to the group, including:
- Chocolate Cookies (main product)
- Flour (ingredient)
- Sugar (ingredient)
- Chocolate chips (ingredient)
4. Define the Master and Component products:
- Master product: Chocolate Cookies
- Component products: Flour, Sugar, and Chocolate chips
5. Specify the Quantity per bundle for each Component product:
Each chocolate cookie requires 15 grams of flour, 10 grams of sugar, and 10 grams of chocolate chips. Therefore, the quantity per bundle for each ingredient will be:
- Flour: 15
- Sugar: 10
- Chocolate chips: 10

Results #
Once your Chocolate Cookies bundle group is set up, inventory synchronization will begin.
When a Chocolate Cookies product is purchased (reducing its quantity by 1), the quantities of the component products will automatically adjust based on the predefined bundle quantities:
- Flour: decreases by 15 (grams)
- Sugar: decreases by 10 (grams)
- Chocolate chips: decreases by 10 (grams)
