3-Pack T-Shirts (mixed sizes & colors)

Problems #

You sell T-Shirts both individually and in bundles like a 3-Pack, often at a discounted rate compared to buying them separately. However, you face a few challenges:

  • Customization: You want your customers to select specific options, such as Color and Size, for each T-shirt in the pack.
  • Inventory Management: The inventory of each T-shirt in the pack needs to be linked with the inventory of the individual T-shirts when sold separately.
  • Shopify Restrictions: If you use the Shopify bundle app to create your 3-Pack T-shirts bundle, the product might exceed Shopify’s limit of 3 options or 100 variants, especially if each T-shirt has multiple options and variants.

This is where you need a solution that lets customers freely mix and match options for each T-shirt in the Pack while also ensuring accurate inventory tracking when these items are sold individually.

To address these challenges, you can follow this solution, which involves setting up Color and Size options with the Easify Product Options app and synchronizing inventories using the Easify Inventory Sync app.

Overview: #

1/ Duplicate the Products:

Duplicate the individual T-shirt products you want to include in the Pack.

Set the duplicate products to $0.00, set them as Active, and hide them from the storefront (Learn more).

These Duplicates will be used as Add-on Products for the 3-Pack T-shirts, allowing customers to select specific colors and sizes for each item in the pack.

2/ Create Color and Size Options:

Use the Easify Product Options app to create Color and Size options for each T-shirt in the pack, linking each option to the corresponding Duplicate products.

3/ Sync Inventories:

Create Inventory Groups in the Easify Inventory Sync app to sync the inventories of the Duplicates with the Original T-shirt products.

When customers purchase the 3-Pack T-Shirts, the inventory of the Duplicate products will be deducted, and these changes will then be synced with the Original T-Shirt products, ensuring accurate inventory management.

Steps to Set up: #

1. Create Duplicates for the Original T-Shirt Product:

You can use the Bulk Product Duplication feature in the Easify Inventory Sync app to quickly duplicate multiple products at once. Alternatively, you can manually duplicate your desired products by following the steps in this guide.

Open the product editing page for the T-Shirt, and click “Duplicate”.

Rename the Duplicate product (e.g., T-shirt (Pack)) to easily distinguish it from the Original.

Ensure the Duplicate product’s status is set to Active in your Online Store so it can be purchased.

Keep the Duplicate product variant’s SKU the same as the Original to utilize the Smart scan feature for faster Inventory Group setup.

On the Duplicate product’s editing page, set all variant prices to $0.00. This ensures that when customers select colors and sizes for items in the 3-Pack T-shirts (i.e., selecting these Duplicate/Add-on products), their prices do not add to the 3-Pack T-shirts price.

2. Set up Color & Size options in Easify Product Options app:

Tips: You can either create a new option set from scratch or use the ready-made 3-Pack T-shirts template in the app for quicker setup.

  • Install and activate the Easify Product Options app in your theme.
  • Create a new option set. Start by creating the color options for Shirt 1. Click “Add option”:

  • Choose your preferred option type for size options, such as Color/Image Swatches.
  • Add the Option name (e.g.: Shirt 1 Color) that will be shown on the cart and checkout pages, and add and Option label that will be shown on the product page. Add colors (e.g.: Navy, Dark Blue, Light Blue) for option values representing available colors of your T-shirt.
  • Create Size option for Shirt 1 – appear when customers select Color 1 (e.g.: Navy), using your prefered option type such as Button. Click on Price fields and link each option value here with associated Duplicate product variants (e.g.: T-Shirt – Navy / S, T-shirt – Navy / M, and T-shirt – Navy / L). Set up Conditional Logic in Advanced settings tab to show these Size option only when customers select Navy color in previous Shirt 1 Color option.
  • Duplicate and edit Size option for Navy color to create 2 more Size options for remaining colors (Dark Blue and Light Blue):
  • Repeat all the steps to create Size & Color options for Shirt 2 and 3.
  • Finally, assign the option set to your 3-Pack T-shirts product.

3. Create Inventory Groups in Easify Inventory Sync App:

To sync the inventory of the Original with their Duplicate T-shirt products, you’ll need to create Inventory Groups.

There are 2 ways to do this:

Smart Scan

If you’ve maintained the same SKU for your Duplicate products, you can use the Smart Scan feature.

The Smart Scan automatically detects products with matching SKUs in your store and suggests groups for them.

Here’s how to use it:

  • Choose “Inventory Groups” from the app navigation menu.
  • Click the “Run smart scan” button to start the scan.
  • The app will suggest groups based on matching SKUs. For example, your T-shirt product have 3 colors and 3 sizes (9 variants), you’ll see 9 suggested groups. Each group pairs a variant of the Original product with the same size variant of the Duplicate product. For example, the “T-shirt-Navy-S” group will include the Navy / S variant of the Original T-shirt product and the Navy / S variant of the Duplicate T-shirt (Pack) product.
  • Next, edit each inventory group to set mutual inventory for all products in each group.
  • You can also use the Bulk edit feature to update inventories for all groups simultaneously.
  • Once you save the groups, the app will apply mutual inventories and sync the stock of all products in the groups according to your settings.

Manual Setup

If your duplicates have different SKUs, you’ll need to set up 9 inventory groups manually:

  • Go to “Inventory Groups” in the app navigation menu.
  • Click the “Add new group” button.

  • Enter the required information for the new group, manually select the Original and Duplicate products’ variants (same size) to add, set mutual inventory for both, and save the group.

Expected Results:

When customers buy the 3-Pack Shirts product, they can choose specific color and size for each item in the pack (which can be the same or different).

For example, if they select:

  • Shirt 1: Color: Navy – Size: S
  • Shirt 2: Color: Light Blue – Size M
  • Shirt 3: Color: Dark Blue – Size L

So, the quantity of the Duplicate T-shirt (Pack) product with corresponding variants (Navy / S, Light Blue / M, Dark Blue / L) will each be deducted by 1.

Then, the app will sync those changes from the Duplicate T-shirt (Pack) to the inventory with the Original T-shirt product in the corresponding sizes, ensure accurate inventory management.
