You sell tops only in X-Pack bundles (e.g.: 2-Pack Tops, 3-Pack Tops…), and these items are not available as individual products.
Notes: This guide will show you how to set up bundle groups for tops sold in packs only. If you sell your products as both individual items and in packs, please follow the other guide for setting up your inventory.
Even though you sell tank tops in packs, it’s essential to manage the total inventory, which includes the individual tops. Moreover, when creating pack products (like 2-Pack Tops or 3-Pack Tops) in Shopify, you need to specify a quantity for each pack. However, these pack inventories aren’t linked, even though they come from the same source. This can lead to significant inventory management challenges.
These issues highlight the need for a solution that effectively manages inventory across all pack products while keeping track of the overall stock.
To address this issue, consider implementing the following solution:
A. Create a Base Product
The Base product, here Sports Tank Tops (Tracking Inventory), serves to set the initial total inventory available.
The inventory of this Base product will determine the quantities available pack for selling on the storefront. For example, the inventory of the Tops(Tracking Inventory) product is 300 (S: 100, M: 100, L: 100) so the quantity of the 2-Pack Tops product available for selling is 150 (S: 50, M: 50, L: 50).
It will reflect the actual remaining inventory. When a variant of the 2-Pack Tops product is purchased (e.g., the 2-Pack Tops – S), the inventory of the Base product (Tops – S) will be adjusted accordingly (deducted by 2).
Updating the inventory of the 2-Pack Tops product triggers adjustments in the Tops (Tracking Inventory) product, which in turn automatically updates the inventory of other X-Pack products (if any).
Notes:
Since the Base product is created for the purpose of tracking actual inventory only and will not be sold on the storefront, you can create it as Draft product.
You must create your Base product before creating the Bundle groups.
If you have multiple X-Pack Tops products requiring similar Bundle Group setups, consider using the app’s Import function to create all bundle groups in a CSV file and import them into the app.
B. Create Bundle Groups in Easify Inventory Sync app
Establish connections between the draft Base product – Tops (Tracking Inventory) and the visible 2-Pack Tops product (and any other X-Pack Tops products) using Bundle Groups. This ensures that changes in inventory are synchronized accurately across all top products.
How to Set Up the Bundle Groups
You’ll need to create separate bundle groups for each variant of the 2-Pack Tops product.
If your 2-Pack Tops product comes in 3 sizes (S, M, L), you’ll need to create 3 bundle groups – one for each size.
Each bundle group will connect the same Size variants of both Tops(Tracking Inventory) and 2-Pack Tops products. For instance, the 2-Pack Tops – S bundle group will link the inventory of2-Pack Tops – S with Tops (Tracking Inventory) – S. Repeat this for M and L sizes.
After creating the first bundle group, e.g.,2-Pack Tops – S, you can duplicate that group to quickly create groups for the other sizes (M, L).
If you have multiple products requiring similar Bundle Group setups, consider using the app’s Import function to create all bundle groups in a CSV file and import them into the app.
Below is the setup guide for creating the bundle group for the S variant:
1. Navigate to the app’s menu and select Bundle Groups.
2. Click on the Add new group button to create a new bundle group.
3. Set a Title for the bundle group, which should include the Size variant name to distinguish among bundle groups. For example: “2-Pack Tops – S”.
4. Add 2 product variants to the group, including:
The S variant of the 2-Pack Tops product
The S variant of the Tops (Tracking Inventory) product
5. Define the Master and Component products:
Master product: 2-Pack Tops – S
Component product: Tops (Tracking Inventory) – S
6. Specify the Quantity per bundle for the Component product:
When a 2-Pack Tops – S product variant is purchased (reducing its quantity by 1), the quantity of the Tops (Tracking Inventory) – S product variant will be reduced by 2.
Therefore, the Quantity per bundle for the base/ component Tops (Tracking Inventory) – S product is 2.
Once your bundle groups are set up, inventory synchronizations will begin.
When a 2-Pack Tops product is purchased, e.g.: M variant, (reducing its quantity by 1), the quantity of the Tops (Tracking Inventory) – M product variant will automatically adjust based on the predefined Quantity per bundle (2).
Notes:
Automatic Master Quantity Adjustment:
To automatically adjust the available quantity of 2-Pack Tops product based on the actual quantity of the Tops (Tracking Inventory) product, follow these steps:
Enable the “Update Master based on changes in Component inventory” feature on the Settings page.
The adjustment will occur immediately after you create the bundle group or enable this setting.
Manual Quantity Update Process:
If you update the Component product quantity on Shopify’s Product editing pages, consider the following:
The Master product inventory will not update automatically, even if the “Update Master based on changes in Component inventory” feature is enabled.
To update the Master quantity after changing Component inventory on Shopify’s Product editing pages: Navigate to the Bundle Groups listing page, select the group containing those products, and click on the “Update Master quantity” button.
